Hi guys,
Ive just came across this article online regarding the uses of the Spanish subjunctive and I can
t help but think it is wrong (although, it`s probably that I just have not understood it)
My problem is with the nosotros example that is provided, the article says that if you are giving a direct command for nosotros, then use the subjunctive, but the example has both a direct command and a negative command that are both in the subjunctive, shouldn't "no comamos" be in the indicative tense? The same thing happens in the usted and ustedes examples too.
Is the article wrong or am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated folks. Thanks in advance. Mark.
Use the Subjunctive in all direct commands for usted, ustedes, and nosotros and in negative commands for tú and vosotros.
Tú Camina más despacio. - Walk slower. - Indicative No camines tan rápido. - Don't walk so fast. - Subjunctive
Usted, Ustedes Díga(n)me mentiras. - Tell me lies. - Subjunctive No me diga(n) la verdad. - Don't tell me the truth. - Subjunctive
Vosotros Comed con nostros. - Eat with us. - Indicative No comáis los frijoles. - Don't eat the beans. - Subjunctive
Nosotros Comamos. - Let's eat. - Subjunctive No comamos. - Let's not eat. - Subjunctive
