Many beginners think and are incorrectly taught that all the nouns ending in o are masculine and the ones ending in a are feminine ,, well sorry to disappoint you friends (beginners) but that is not always the case..

I have seen many people saying la sistema, la problema, la mapa etc. Which is totally wrong..

Well , the gender of many nouns can be identified with their respective endings but there are many exceptions ... On this thread ,, I will post some useful tips for the beginners to be able to assimilate the grammatical gender of most of the nouns that don't follow the regular pattern.

The first tip I would like to share is as follows : nouns that end in ma and are of Greek origin are masculine as a rule... For example : el problema, el programa, el tema etc.

As we move forward I will keep updating more information and tips on how to identify the gender of irregular nouns .... If any one else wishes to contribute to the thread in the common interest of all the members please come forward and do so ..

Regards, Jimmy
