The political scene in Argentina is pretty interesting. I'm reading the local paper here trying to understand it, which is why I've been posting so many questions lately.
Anyway, the current governor of the province is Scioli, and if things get worse --which is what nearly everyone expects--it will be harder for officials in,and associated with, the current administration to get elected in 2015.
Understanding that very brief context, here is a caption from today's LA NACION:
Scioli, más expuesto, confía en el PJ (the Justicialist Party) y en su rol componedor
Then, in the article beneath that caption, there is this:
Sabe que como principal candidato del oficialismo lleva las de perder en un escenario de crisis. Pero busca contraarrestarlo con tres argumentos: resaltar su pérfil de hombre componedor, necesario en tiempos turbulentos; apuntar al apoyo del peronismo que, ségun él....
The dictionary says componedor means bonesetter, but that can't possibly the the sense in which the word is used here.
I'm thinking someone who can mend fences, gets along with others??
