Aug 08 - dar por sentado

Hi all,

I've seen the phrase "dar por sentado" a couple times of late. At least twice in flashcards, but have also heard it at least twice in real life. In a couple contexts it seemed used more like "assumed" and in others more like ¨taken for granted¨ Can it be both of these, and if so, is it strictly down to context to differentiate?

Thanks Roger
