Aug 13 - Possessive Adjectives vs Possessive Pronouns

I recently got a copy of the Practice Makes Perfect Pronouns and Prepositions book, and I'm confused about one of the topics. They explain Possessive Pronouns should be used like:

La amiga suya es bonita (The friend of hers is pretty) El coche suyo es un clásico (The car of his is a classic)

Where having suya/suyo after the noun is supposed to emphasize the owner. However, in the SpanishDict reference article for Possessive Adjectives the exact same form shows up under "Long-Form Possessive Adjectives". Also, I was under the impression that Possessive Pronouns always need an article, unless they come after ser. So am I wrong or has the book mixed up Possessive Pronouns and Possessive Adjectives?
