I just have a question about the use of the preterit for 'ir'. On the phone, my girlfriend (who is Peruvian, although English is her first language) was telling her Mum that I had gone back home. She said -"Sí, se fue a su casa".
This confused me because I thought that - in order to say that - you'd say "(Él) fue a su casa", or simply, "Se fue".
Did she misuse the phrase "Él se fue/Se fue" and should have said "Fue a su casa", or was she correct?
I really misunderstand the instances in when you would use "Se fue" and when you would use "Él fue", because you wouldn't say "Me fui" would you?????
