As the dictionary explains, "quedar" can mean "to be" in contexts indicating a result. So, for example, el coche quedó destrozado = the car was destroyed. Quedó paralitico tras el accidente=The accident left him paralyzed/He was paralyzed in the accident.

As the dictionary also explains, "salir" can also be used to indicate a result. For example, ¿Qué salió en la votación?=What was the result of the vote/How did the vote turn out? Salir premiado =To be awarded a prize.

And of course, resultar also can mean "to be" in the context of indicating a result. Su idea resultó imposible de cumplir=Her idea was impossible to comply with/carry out. El Tejano resultó herido en la tragedia=The Texan was injured in the tragedy.

So the question is when can these be interchanged? El coche salíó destrozado? El coche resultó destrozado?¿Comó quedó la votación?? Quedó premiado? Resultó premiado? El Tejano quedó herido? El Tejano salió herido?
