Feb 06 - "Mabinga"-palabra cubana.

Feb 08 - Business spanish "voto conforme"

I am reading the rules for a company about how changes to the Board of Directors must be done by a majority vote. I'm trying to look up similar documents for Latin American and Spanish companies to see how they word it, rather than simply translating. I keep coming across "voto conforme" in what looks like the right context but I'm not entirely clear on what the phrase means. Does "voto conforme" refer to a majority vote? Or is it something slightly different?

Feb 09 - ¿Tuve o Recibí? ¿Debo o Debería?

So, a question. I was studying the preterite conjugation for "tener" and I have a book called "501 Spanish Verbs", and while I was reading, one of the sentence examples for 'tuve' and it said somewhere near the example that you could use this to say something like "Tuve una carta de Juan" which would be equal to "I received a letter from Juan", but I always thought you would use "recibí" if you were to ever say something like that??

I don't know if there's a solid difference between those two, but if there are, can someone tell me how and when to use it? I am also confused with "debo" and "debería" in this case as well, if someone can explain that to me as well, I'd appreciate it.

Feb 09 - Do we trill the R in these words -Árbol, terciopelo, suerte, fuerte, etc..

Hey guys, I had a look in the Q&A section and I couldn't find anything answering this specific question. I already now how to pronounce the soft and strong 'R' but my question is when. More specifically, concerning the 'R' before consenents. E.g, Árbol, fuerte, formar, suerte and the list goes on. I learnt that they should be rolled, not the soft 'tap', but some of my Spanish friends say I sound Russian when I say these words?!... And that I should use the soft 'R' in these words.

Any advice or opinions? (I'm living in Galicia, Spain, if that makes a difference)

¡Gracias de antemano chicos!

Feb 09 - Question about: "No se oía ningún sonido"

$

Hello,

I've started to learn spanish a little while ago and came across this example on the following page: http://www.spanishdict.com/videos/oír "no se oía ningún sonido"- translated to "I could not hear any sound"

oía is indeed the imperfect tense of yo, but also the imperfect tense of él/ella/Ud., and since 'se' is used, shouldn't it be the latter? Then it would mean that nobody in general couldn't hear any sound right?

Is this a wrong translation or am I missing something?
