Apr 06 - Prepositional phrases with object pronouns

Hi. I have a pretty simple question regarding prepositional phrases and object pronouns.

Let's say I have the sentence, "He gave it to him."

I'm pretty sure that would be translated, "Se lo da a él?" Correct?

If that is correct..

  • Is the "a él" required? - Would the sentence "Se lo da" be incorrect?
  • Would the sentence be incorrect if I included the "a él" and not the "se?"

Thanks for your help!

I've heard this phrase as a response to "Como estas" other than "muy bien", etc, so today I used the phrase "Estoy estupendo" when my friend from Ecuador asked me how I was doing, and then he looked at me like I was crazy. Can someone help me out with what type of context you would use this phrase for? Thanks!

Hello everyone, I've recently started my journey in learning spanish.

"Yo también vivo en Londres. Te gusta Londres?"

Instead of saying "Yo también vivo en Londres", is it still correct to say "también vivo en Londres? (without "yo&quotwink.

Also, "¡A mí me gusta todo!" Would it also be appropriate to say " Gusta todo"?

Gracias!

Hello everyone! I just started learning spanish for few months now and I'm struggling with the vocabularies. I come from Indonesia and it's difficult to find native speakers or spanish classes. Hence, the vocabularies I have known are not much used and sometimes I just forget them.

Do you have any tips on how to use them everyday, or is there any website that allow me to meet native speakers? Also, do you have any other tips?

Thanks in advance. and have a nice day smile

Apr 07 - Conjugation of vestir (wear) and visita

$

I know that in Spanish, the ending of the verb indicates its meaning. (e.g. first person, second person, command tense, etc)

In my Spanish book it lists the following:

Dressing:

  • se vista = Dress up (one's self)
  • me vista = I am getting dressed (now)
  • esta vistiéndose = you are Getting dressed (Right now, in the moment)
  • nos vestimos = we dress ourself
  • me visto = I dress myself
  • se viste = You dress yourself (formal)
  • te vistes = You dress yourself (friend)
  • se visten = you all dress yourself

Visiting:

  • te vistas = You visit (friend)
  • nos vistamos = We visit
  • se vistan =You all visit

However, when I search these phrases in SpanishDict, they are all listed as vestir (to wear), even the ones for visiting.

Worse still, if I look the conjugation table for vestir, the forms with ‘se’, ‘me’, ‘nos’ and ‘te’ are not listed.

Confusingly, visit is listed on SpanishDict as “visita“ but this is as a noun (the verb is visitar)

So what is my Spanish book on about? Is it a misprint, or is there some reason to it’s apparent madness? (And yes, I do have other better books, but seeing this piqued my curiosity! smile ). 3
