Tengo una playera de la UNAM que compré en el DF. Arriba del diseño es escrito el nombre de la universidad todo en mayúsculos: "UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL AUTÓNOMA DE MÉXICO." Pero, en lugar de la palabra "DE," hay un símbolo que es una combinación de las letras "D" y "E" y no ve como un error de imprimir. Es una "D" con la linea horizontal en el medio de la "E" añadido.

¿Es esto algo que es hecho en otros lugares? ¿O sólo es que yo encontré una playera muy extraña?

Many times in Spanish there is a shorthand way of saying things, and there are fewer words than we would have in English. A few examples:

What I would have expected the phrase to be is "no, nunca nos hemos visto""No, we have never see each other before."

I saw other instances in that show of phrases like this in the past perfect where I would've expected the perfect.

Generally, it is taught that the past perfect and perfect of Spanish work pretty much the same way as in English. This seems to be an exception.

Do any native speakers have an insight into some rule or something that I am missing or have forgotten, or any rationale for this?
