Aug 05 - Sick to the stomach
I put this sentence in Word of the Day.....
Lo que sucedió ese día me hizo sentir mal de la barriga.
What happened that day made me feel sick to the stomach.
Heidita suggested others ways of saying this and asked me to put the sentence on the open forum. I know you can substitute 'estómago' for 'barriga' and you could leave out the word 'sentir' without it changing the meaning too much.
So my question is this:
Does my sentence make sense in Spanish, and - more importantly to me - does it sound natural?
What other ways are there to say this type of thing in Spanish?

Aug 05 - Vi una película mientras comía mi desayuno.
Hello, i would like to ask you if the sentence is correct.
Also i would like to ask you if i can write it like this: "Vi una película mientras comer mi desayuno." or "Vi una película mientras estuve comiendo mi desayuno."
And can i write it with imperfect or progressive on "ver" instead of preterite?

Hi,
I have been hearing the word "Cabezón" and the plural form which I think is "Cabenzotes" Judging by the context it seems to be a polite way of saying "mierda" or as a way of expressing surprise in a situation like when someone opens the door and you say it to them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've asked this before many years ago but I'd like to ask again since it just came up in another thread and there are new native Spanish speakers onboard who might have some input.
I know that in Spain it's understood that if I say "soy cartera" that I mean that I'm a female mail carrier. However, cartera also means "wallet" or, in some places, "purse". In some places, like Argentina and Mexico, there are no female mail carriers so saying "soy cartera" sounds extra weird. That's why I always say something like "entrego el correo".
In your part of the world are there women who carry the mail? What are they called? Does it sound strange to you to say, "soy cartera"? If so, what should I say instead?

Aug 05 - Ha caído un poquito de lluvia pero no mucha
I posted the sentence, " Ha caído un poquito de lluvia últimamente pero no mucho" in the recent weather thread and it was corrected to "mucha". Why does "mucha" have to agree with "lluvia" but "poquito" does not? Is this one of those things that just sounds "off" or is there a way to explain this?

what does the nos mean here? (and the sentence as well):
nos vamos de campamento
vamos is an intransitive verb, so it can't be a pronominal verb, and if it was used for future there should be a after the vamos , shouldn't it?

Ok, I told my friend about that weird clocking somebody , he was just as stunned as I was.
However, he was so nice as to offer three alternative meanings to clock sb, let's see if you know them .
Number one:
I was clocked yesterday when I was going to the airport. I am screwed.
Number 2
Billy really clocked me last night , I had to pay him a round.
Number three
Billy got so pissed he clocked me a good one.

Aug 06 - A Question about indirect object pronouns
I already know that when you want to say "he stole it from me" you would say "me lo robó"
I used to think it was "lo robó de mi" which is wrong. But I'm trying to understand this more so I'll try another sentence using "from"
If I wanted to say "he provoked a strange feeling from me"
Would it be "me provocó una sensación rara" Or "Provocó una sensación rara de mi" Sorry if it's a weird example, it was the first thing I could think of I kinda get the feeling that it's the first one but I don't know for sure.

Aug 06 - Tonight's Big Fight: sólo vs. solo
Hi, everyone:
I had an entry in today's Picture of the Day that read the following (once I made another unrelated correction to my poorly written sentence):
No está perdido; sólo está contemplando.
He is not lost; he is just contemplating.
Our corrector, Heidita, suggested using solo (no need for accent).
My research indicates that sólo (with the accent) means "just."
Can someone explain why I should use solo (without the accent).
